Summer Flirt

Summer romance, 2020 – during a long weekend of camping in September 2020, I started a s summer-romance with the river ‘Ois’. I documented our acquaintance in letters, drawings, video and sound-recording. And later also in ceramics.
This documentation was shown in the form of an installation at the ‘Eco Flirt’ exhibition in June-July 2021, Vienna.

River Flirt
Today I thought of you when I went swimming in the Danube. The water was still cold and this reminded me of you. It is the thing I love most; swimming in cold water. I often wondered why I love it so much and why it scares me at the same time. Will I survive?
But the realisation that I continue to exist–though in a different way–gives me immense joy. I forget everything else and just feel the tingling, the pinching. My breath changes, becomes more profound. Through it, I release the last bit of fear.
Anyway, as I sat there, focusing on this sensation, this wrestling on the surface of my skin between the sun outside and the water inside me, I thought of breathing you.
