Re-Home. (Can she fly like a dragon?)

Video, 2020 – Re-visiting (childhood-memories of) my hometown in the south of the Netherlands.

“There once was a man in Edmonton who found a dying dragon.
He took her to his hotel room and laid her on his bed.
That night, she died.
Then he wrapped her in a cloth, he took her to the bridge, he threw her into the Columbia river.
This is how she came to me…”

This film tells the stories and realities of several people that are ‘at home’ in the same hometown. The work explores how different realities, stories, maps and pasts of the same town–however seemingly ‘contradictory’ or ‘surreal’–in fact interact and coexist.

(As a reaction to “Re-Home,” “Križić Kružić” was made: a collabirative work on another hometown from elsewhere.)
