A Space of Rebirth
Mixed-media exploration, 2019 – Investigating the possibility to find a new form of access to ceremony of rebirth. Inspired by Temazcal ceremonies I experienced during my fieldwork in Uruguay.
What do we do when we feel lost? If we worry about something? If we carry a burden that we want to get rid of? According to the Camino Rojo we should go back to where it all began, to the origin of life: to the womb of Mother Earth. She can give us the information about how we are made, she can help us to be reborn.
Having left Uruguay after I finished my fieldwork, I lost my access to the Temazcal ceremony. Have I also lost my access to a rebirth-ritual? An experiment on different ways to get new access to rebirth.
The dynamics between Inside/outside; protection/freedom. A warm nest for freedom, rebirth and expulsion of danger and of the `big bad wolf’.
